Andy Thompson

Having spent over 20 years providing digital services to the international petroleum industry, Andy joined the NSTA in 2016. In the eight years since he has worked on several initiatives that have transformed the NSTA’s digital and data capabilities. Projects range from the development of regulations for data created under licence to establishing the UK’s National Data Repository (NDR). Andy now manages the delivery and development of the NDR, enabling petroleum licensees to fulfil their obligation to report licence data to the Secretary of State for BEIS, and through which the NSTA publishes the same information, after a confidentiality period, to anyone who can make use of it in support of traditional purposes and in a growing range of emerging energy transition use cases, including carbon storage, offshore wind, and hydrogen storage.
